Touch of Compassion Ministry (TOCM) is a faith-based, non-profit organization dedicated to community upliftment, education, and addressing food insecurity.
TOCM’s mission is deeply rooted in the Christian principles of compassion, opportunity, and faith, inspired by the personal journey of its founder, Enos Stewart. The organization focuses on holistic support for underserved communities, primarily in Scarborough, Toronto, and the Caribbean.
Key Areas of Service
The ministry’s work is multifaceted, combining immediate relief with long-term empowerment:
- Food Distribution: This is TOCM’s foundational service, which began during the COVID-19 pandemic. What started as a self-funded effort serving over 100 people per week has grown significantly. Today, with partners like the Daily Bread Food Bank, TOCM serves 300 to 400 people weekly in Scarborough.
- Educational Scholarships: TOCM is committed to nurturing future leaders by providing scholarships in both Canada and the Caribbean. In the past five years, the founder and his wife have facilitated over 50 scholarships for students pursuing careers as teachers, nurses, doctors, lawyers, and pastors.
- Community Support: The organization provides essential counseling, mentorship, and support for struggling families across the region, focusing on inner-city outreach and community development.
In essence, Touch of Compassion Ministry is the formal expression of Enos Stewart’s lifelong mission to pay forward the opportunity he was given, transforming lives through tangible acts of generosity and faith-based service.
