Meet Our Founder: Enos Stewart

“One Cow, A Thousand Blessings.”

A native of Maggotty, Jamaica, Enos Stewart is the visionary founder of Touch of Compassion Ministry (TOCM) — a man whose life embodies the principles of faith, resilience, and unwavering generosity.

A Journey of Purpose and Sacrifice

Enos’ story begins in humble surroundings, but a life-altering moment came when his father sold a single cow—worth just 85 pounds—to send him to England in search of a brighter future. That one selfless act became the foundation of Enos’ lifelong mission: to uplift and empower others through compassion, opportunity, and faith.

In England, Enos met his future wife, Jean, at a church event. In a twist of divine irony, she too was from Maggotty. Their shared heritage and deep faith became the pillars of a remarkable life of service and love. Over the past 5 years, the Stewarts have provided over 50 scholarships, nurturing future teachers, nurses, doctors, lawyers, and pastors in both the Caribbean and Canada.

Serving with Compassion in Canada

After settling in Canada, Enos combined his entrepreneurial spirit with a calling to serve. He immersed himself in community and church life, eventually dedicating himself to inner-city outreach, mentorship, and counseling in some of Toronto’s most underserved areas.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, his calling took shape in the form of Touch of Compassion Ministry — a humble food distribution effort in the parking lot of Toronto East Seventh-day Adventist Church. Entirely self-funded at the start, the initiative served over 100 people weekly in Scarborough.

Today, with the support of partners like the Daily Bread Food Bank, TOCM reaches three to four hundred people every week, while providing scholarships in Canada and the Caribbean; supporting struggling families across the region and offering counseling mentorship and community upliftment.

A Legacy Rooted in Faith

Enos’s core belief is simple yet profound:

“If those with resources choose to give someone else an opportunity, then we can build stronger families, communities, and a better world.”

Through his life and ministry, Enos Stewart proves that one act of kindness—like the gift of a single cow—can ripple across generations, changing lives and building legacies of hope.
